Junior career
Andreeva began her tennis career at age six, inspired by her younger sister Mirra who is also a professional player. She trained initially at Krasnoyarsk Tennis Academy before moving to Moscow for better coaching. Competing in numerous junior tournaments she achieved an ITF junior ranking of no 9 by June 2021 – representing Russia at both Junior Fed Cups and Youth Olympic Games tournaments as well.
She made headlines as a junior when she reached the final of the 2021 French Open girls’ singles event, losing to Linda Noskova in three sets. Additionally, she reached the semifinals in Australian Open doubles event alongside Mirra and quarterfinals at Wimbledon singles event.
Professional career
Andreeva turned professional in 2020 and won her inaugural ITF tournament at Pazardzhik, Bulgaria in November at $15k event, followed by Cairo Egypt event in December 2021 – and again Sharm El Sheikh Egypt event in March 2021 for her third $15k title win.
In May 2021, she made her ITF Circuit final at La Bisbal d’Empord in Spain but fell to Nuria Parrizas Diaz in three sets. Additionally, she made her WTA Tour debut at 2021 Ladies Open Lausanne qualifying for the main draw and recording her first win against Anna Blinkova before eventually falling in straight sets against Tamara Korpatsch in round two.
She made her Grand Slam debut at the 2022 US Open after successfully competing in three qualifying matches and qualifying for the main draw. In her opening round matchup against 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu in three sets, she put up a valiant fight but ultimately succumbed. Additionally, she qualified for Anastasia Potapova and Paula Badosa at both Australian Open and French Open but went out in their respective first rounds respectively.
At Wimbledon 2023, she reached the second round after defeating Arantxa Rus in the opening round. Unfortunately she would be defeated by eventual champion Ashleigh Barty but not before taking one set from her in round two.
She made her WTA 1000 debut at the 2023 Miami Open after being granted a wildcard into the main draw. She took out fellow wildcard Ashlyn Krueger before falling victim to 16th seed Elena Rybakina in round two.
Personal life
Andreeva was born June 24th 2004 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia to Aleksandr and Olga Andreev who both work as engineers. She has an older sister Mirra who also plays professional tennis; both were from Krasnoyarsk but moved to Moscow for coaching purposes. Speaking both Russian and English fluently, Andreeva enjoys reading, watching movies and listening to music; she admires Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova’s style of play as well as their attitudes – currently she is being trained by Dmitry Degtyarev as her coach.
