Acer Predator Triton 500- Specification, Performace & More
The new Acer Predator Triton 500 is not remarkably different from its predecessor. But the hardware raises under the use bring some notable performance gains. For the price of RM8,999, the Triton 500 has naturally given some powerful hardware. The Core i7-10875H octa-core processor is fast. RTX 2070 Super, even in Max-Q form, will deliver high frame rates in AAA titles. The 300Hz screen is fantastic. Hardware is packed with a 17.9mm thin carriage. It’s one of the reasons why the laptop costs as much as it.
The Good Material
Let us get to the most exciting aspect of the Triton 500 first’s performance. As mentions, the Core i7-10875H is a Fast Processor that can easily keep up with the RTX 2070 Super Max-Q. See just how capable is this chip; I put it through its single steps in CineBench R20.

Impressive numbers, right? Sure, these games still don’t entirely take advantage of the Triton 500’s 300Hz panel. But one can get even higher frame rates by pulling the graphics settings. After all, I tested these games with push to a limit settings.
The temperature of the Triton 500 is surprisingly good. It for a Thin and Light gaming machine. Small phone rest area stays cool in heat gaming sessions. At the same time, the CPU gets quite comfortably warm.
The GPU remains well below 80°C. Do note that I test the laptop’s temperatures when running on Turbo mode. It allows the fans to run at maximum speed. It gets pretty loud, but the results are well valued.
And it brings me to the noise level of the Triton 500 outside of gaming. It is whisper quiet. Whether I am doing some light photo editing, Browsing the Web, or Watching some Shows on Netflix and the fans are barely audible.
Triton 500’s 15.6-inch 1080p IPS screen looks stunning. The 300Hz refresh rate makes gaming on it extremely enjoyable. Not to mention the G-Sync support. The quality of the panel is value praising too. The colours Pop, Viewing angles are good. It is well adjusted as well.
That is said, I do wish the display was ever so slightly brighter. It’s not dim by any means. It will get bright enough for comfortable use indoors – but it does wash out in much brighter conditions outdoor.
Last but not least are the input devices of the Triton 500; these are excellent. With per-key RGB lighting, the keyboard is comfortable with real keys. And just enough the essential travel for a pleasant typing experience.
I am not a fan of the Predator Sense shortcut key right, beside the backspace. It is easy to launch the software by accident. But at least the keyboard as an entire is excellent.
As for the trackpad, I love it. It is an unusual thing to say for a gaming laptop’s trackpad. See, it even compares to the trackpad of premium productivity laptops. It is by far one of the most accurate trackpads I have used on a Windows machine. The smooth surface of the glass trackpad’s also allows my fingers to move smoothly across it effortlessly.
The Bad Stuff
While the Core i7-10875H under the cloak of the Triton 500 can return good numbers. It is not quite as fast as AMD’s excellent Ryzen 4000 chip. More particularly, the Ryzen 7 4800H, in my review of the Asus TUF Gaming A15, the Ryzen 7 chip. Powering the laptop proves to superior to Intel’s giving. Just look at the remarkable performance difference below in CineBench R20:

I was comparing it to the single microprocessor core on a chip test. The Ryzen 7 4800H has an apparent cause over the Core i7-10875H in the multi-core test. Yes, the Core i7 chip is still capable. It is given that the Ryzen 7 processor is found in even more affordable gaming laptops. Intel’s offering does not look to offer excellent worth for amount.
Another area where the Core i7-10875H fall short is power consumption; it is constructed on a 14nm process. So its power efficiency is not entirely as good as the 7nm Ryzen 7 4800H. As a result, the battery’s life of the Triton 500 has suffered.
Especially in comparison to its predecessor. I manage to get six hours of use with the first model. But I only got on four hours of use with this new utterance.

Need the level of performance enticed by the sleek chassis of the Triton 500, can always opt for the RM7,999 model. This configuration comes with a 144Hz screen and RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU, the same Core i7-10875H processor, and 8GB of RAM. It’s still reasonably robust, though you should increase the RAM to 16GB.
The Acer Predator Triton 500, with its Slim carriage and powerful performance, is a highly trained gaming laptop. But I wish there was an AMD option for the machine. It would have made it that much more attractive by offering even better Performance and Battery life.
Hopefully, Acer will find doing so with the next repetition of the Triton 500.
