AL Bemiller Death Cause: Al Bemiller was an AFL champion player for the Bills in the 1960s. He arrived in Buffalo in 1961 and has never left. Bemiller chose to draft the Bills instead of the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals who also drafted him. He believed he had better chances to play and that Western New York was closer than his hometown of Hanover (Pa.).
The team announced Wednesday that Bemiller, who was at the heart of the Bills’ offensive line for 126 consecutive games, from 1961-1969, has died. He was 84.

Who Was Al Bemiller?
Albert Delane Bemiller, a nine-year veteran of the Buffalo Bills became the longest-tenured player within the American Football League during his nine-year tenure. He won two AFL championships in 1964 and 1965. During his nine seasons with Bills, Bemiller played every game except one.
Al Bemiller played college football at Syracuse University. In 1959, he was the team leader for the National Championship team. He was also awarded All-East recognition In his senior year. In 1960, he was selected to the All-AFL second center. He was also a certified high-school wrestling official.
Ben Schwartzwalder, Syracuse’s head football coach, recruited Bemiller. He was a starting offensive tackle for the Bills. He was a part of 126 games and made 123 starts. For nine seasons, he was a constant on the Bills’ offensive lines.
Bemiller retired from the Bills to become the head wrestling coach at St. Francis HS, Athol Springs, New York. Bemiller also served as a wrestling official in Western New York schools. He also owned a nightclub in Hamburg. He was also a substitute teacher in Buffalo’s public schools. Over 25 years, he also owned several businesses.
In 1969, Bemiller ran for Cheektowaga supervisor. Bemiller claimed that the NFL had committed fraud. He also filed a suit against the NFL. The matter was resolved in January 2017. For ten years, the NFL had delayed payment. The settlement estimates were incorrectly calculated and overestimated.
How Did Al Bemiller Die?
Al Bemiller, a former Buffalo Bill player, has died. He was a former Buffalo Bills and Syracuse University football player (1961-1969). He was part of the Bills’ AFL Championship teams as well as the Greater Buffalo Hall of Fame.
Multiple sources claim that Al suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease for many decades. The cause of death was not disclosed by the family of Al Bemiller. On their official Facebook page, the Buffalo Bills posted about Al Bemiller’s death.
