His depiction of Rick Grimes in the AMC drama series The Walking Dead has made him the most well-known actor. Prior to playing Simon in the Channel 4 sitcom Teachers and Mark in the romantic comedy Love Actually, he initially gained notoriety as Egg in the BBC drama This Life.

In “Births and Deaths,” a Channel 4 comedy show, Lincoln made his television debut in 1994.

He had his breakout role as Edgar “Egg” Cook, one of the main characters in the popular BBC drama This Life, in 1995, not long after graduating from drama school.

He continued to appear in several British television dramas and series, including The Woman in White, The Canterbury Tales, and Wuthering Heights. However, he is best known for his role as Simon Casey, a probationary teacher in the popular Channel 4 sitcom Teachers.

He co-starred with Richard Armitage in the 2010 Sky 1 television series Strike Back, and he played the lead part of university lecturer and psychologist Robert Bridge in the film Afterlife.
