Cartoonist Roger Mahonney Died At Age “89”


According to the offical news, a common cartoonist, Roger Mahoney died peacefully at home on November 5, 2022 at that time  89 years old. It is believed that he died from natural causes. He was a skilled musician who rose to prominence in cartooning. Roger was born in Portsmouth. To begin his career, he attended an art faculty. He made cartoons for English-language newspapers and met Jim Henson, who is the creator of the Muppets.

Who Was Roger Mahoney

Roger Mahoney was an American cardinal during his lifetime. He served as Archbishop in Los Angeles from 1985 to 2011. He was the Bishop of Stockton between 1980 and 1985, as well as Auxiliary bishop of Fresno 1975 to 1980.

Mahony was ordained in 1962 as a priest by the Diocese Monterey–Fresno. He received his master’s degree from the Catholic University of America, in sociology, in 1964. He served on numerous committees for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. These included the Pontifical Council for Social Communications (1898-2010), the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace (84-1989) and the Council of Cardinals for Economic and Administrative Concerns of the Holy See (91-2010).

Mahony, Archbishop Los Angeles, issued a pastoral note titled Gather Faithfully With You in 1997. It was a 31-page document that focused on the role and responsibilities of the people of God. However, many critics found it confusing.

The Diocese of Los Angeles was harmed by Mahony’s handling of sexual abuse cases. In court filings, it has been shown that Mahony didn’t do enough to protect children against sexually abusive priests. The Los Angeles Times investigation discovered that Mahony, his former vicar of clergy, conspired with law enforcement to hide sexual abuse.

Jose Gomez of Los Angeles, Archbishop, banned Mahony from public ministry because he failed to protect young people from abusive priests. Cardinal Mahony was a member of several USCCB committees. These included the councils to provide pastoral care for migrants and itinerants and the council to address economic and administrative concerns.

Roger Mahoney was a prolific cartoonist during his 89-year-old life. He also became a professional musician. He was a comic artist for English language magazines and newspapers. He also worked with Jim Henson for the adaptation of The Muppets.

Roger Mahoney’s demise has drawn worldwide attention because his work was recognized by many. He was an artist and cartoonist who was best known for his work on the Andy Capp comics. His loved ones offer their deepest sympathies to his family.

Roger Mahony’s family is originally from Portsmouth, England. When he turned eighteen, he moved to America. He studied English at Western Illinois University as well as Quincy University. The United States Army was his next job. He joined the local bands. He also made cartoons for his clients. He eventually settled in Forest Park, Illinois.

Bishop Aloysius Joseph Wilinger in 1962 ordained Cardinal Roger Mahony. He was made Monsignor in February 1967. He was appointed Auxiliary bishop of Fresno on January 1975. He was also the first chair of California’s Agricultural Labor Relations Board. He was then elected Archbishop Los Angeles in 1985.

He served until 2011. Mahony was resigned from all public duties in Los Angeles in 2011. During that time, he also served as the Titular Bishop for Tamascani. He was then awarded the honorary title Bishop Emeritus. Roger Mahoney is married to Myra. He has three sons, Russell, Terry, and Julian. Sandra is his one-year-old daughter.
