2010-present: Derrick Mixtapes, comedy, and Community
Producer David Miner became interested in Glover in 2006 when Glover sent writing samples, which included a spec script he had written for The Simpsons.
Glover was hired as a writer for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock after Miner and Tina Fey were impressed with his work. Glover wrote for 30 Rock from 2006 to 2009, and he occasionally made cameos in the show.
For their efforts on the third season, he and his co-writers received the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series in 2008.
Glover tried out unsuccessfully for the role of President Barack Obama on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live in 2008; cast member Fred Armisen won the part.
Along with Dominic Dierkes, Meggie McFadden, DC Pierson, and Dan Eckman, Glover joined the sketch comedy troupe Derrick Comedy as a student at NYU. Since 2006, he has appeared in their routines on YouTube.

His first singles “Bonfire” and “Heartbeat,” which reached at number eighteen on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles and number fifty-four on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, supported the release of his album Camp on November 15, 2011.
