Based on the book by Jennifer E. Smith, the film is neatly broken down into segments as per its title. Beginning with the hello, early doors we witness Clare and Aidan’s meet cute; the two sharing a natural chemistry that culminates with them kindling a relationship. However, with only a year remaining before they graduate and leave for college, it’s a relationship that seems to be on a timer.


Given Clare’s fear of ending up with a broken heart, she sets pragmatic boundaries which Aidan agrees to, hence the breakup pact; the two promise to end things cordially before life takes them in different directions. Jumping forward to the goodbye, on the night before Clare leaves for college, the pair embark on a nostalgic date spent recreating their most memorable moments together. Running through the greatest hits of their relationship, each activity leads to flashbacks of the ‘everything in between.’

Goodbye Plot

The Goodbye plot revolves around two exes – James and Lily – and their relationship, which is affected by a cyber attack. They end up reuniting after the attack, and their hometown becomes a fortress. The reunion is full of flirtation and revelry, but the new local world order threatens their happiness. Claire and Aidan make a pact to break up before college with no regrets and no broken hearts. However, one epic goodbye date may offer them a last chance at love.

Goodbye Cast

The Hello, Goodbye and Everything In Between cast includes Eva Day and Dalias Blake, who have both appeared on television shows such as “Batwoman” and “Schitt’s Creek.” Patrick Sabongui, who has starred in Homeland, The Jordan Fisher, and Seance, is also a part of the cast.

McLaughlin has extensive experience as a voice artist and impersonator. She has appeared in numerous independent films and has been a guest star on Free Radio and VH1’s reality series New York Goest to Hollywood. She has continued to work in the theatre and film industry.
