Hindi remake rights of the Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph film purchased; will Ajay Devgn and Tabu reprise their roles?

Producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak have acquired the Hindi remake rights of the Malayalam hit film Drishyam 2 – The Resumption. The official Bollywood remake of the instant Mohanlal classic thriller, directed by Jeethu Joseph, will be bankrolled under their banner, Panorama Studios International. And the burning question now is whether Ajay Devgn, Tabu and the rest of the original ensemble cast of the Bollywood adaptation of the first Drishyam will reprise their roles for the second remake as well. Talking about the acquisition of Drishyam 2, Original Malayalam Producer Antony Perumbavoor shares, “We are happy that Panorama Studios International has acquired the rights for Drishyam 2 and I am certain the Production house will justify the film.”

Director of the original Malayalam Drishyam 2 Jeethu Joseph shared, “The story of Drishyam 2 resonated with people and I am so glad that Panorama Studios will make it reach to a wider audience with the Hindi remake. I am looking forward to it.”

With Kumar Mangat Pathak behind the remake of Drishyam 2, it wouldn’t be farfetched to believe that at least Ajay Devgn will be back, considering how close the two are. However, given how the story of the original Malayalm progresses, we don’t see how the film could go ahead without Tabu and most of the other cast returning, too. Fingers crossed that that’s the case.
