Kimbo was then a participant in the CBS Saturday Night Fights’ program and was able to challenge Ken Shamrock to face him at the BankAtlantic Center in Florida on the 4th of October, 2008. Prior to the fight, Ken suffered a huge cut to his left eye as he warmed up. Seth Petruzelli then fought against Kimbo to replace Ken on the night. But, Kimbo lost that match against Seth. In the following days, EliteXC closed its operation because of bankruptcy in the month of October 2008.

He won the fight over one of history’s best boxers in the world, Tay Bledsoe via the KO contest on October 15th, 2011. On the 30th of December of the same year, he won victory over Charles Hackmann via an unanimous decision. He later made the trip to Australia to take on Shane Tilyard on 30th January 2013.
