Lee Auto Group’s Business Practices Questioned
FORT MYERS (Fla.) – A Call for Action investigation revealed questionable business practices at a local dealership. lee auto included false advertising, deceitful deals and crummy cars.
We have received three additional stories from customers of Lee Auto Group since May’s original story. They are expressing their dissatisfaction with the dealership.
Ray Howard and Angela, his girlfriend, are trying to figure out why the wrong deal was made.
They went to Lee Auto Group on Alico Road in July to purchase a car.
Angela and Ray both claim they went to the dealership after seeing a car for $5,000 advertised online.
They expected to get a loan of $3,200 through the dealership after trading in their minivan. They ended up getting a $7,622 loan.
Howard stated that he had explained the matter to him after I called him and said the bank had raised my price. He said I should contact the bank. I did. The bank could not help me as they didn’t have the paperwork so we had to wait.
Nearly two weeks after Lee Auto Group signed all documents, Howard provided the paperwork to the bank.
Howard stated that “the bank investigated, returned and told us that the dealer had decided that [the deal] wasn’t legitimate and that they didn’t want to be part it.”
Howard said that the car also broke down on the way home.
Howard stated, “It started smoking and smoking.” “Fluid was everywhere.”
After the car she purchased from Lee Auto Group didn’t make it home, Pamela Mariano contacted WINK News Call for Action and Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Mariano stated that she paid with a check. “I paid $35,525 and drove as if I was going home. It is 13 miles from North Fort Myers. The car broke down after we drove nine miles.
Mariano said that she had the car town back to Lee Auto Group, but left the keys in the car and cancelled her check immediately.
“It can’t even go ten miles,” Mariano said. It’s junk. It was not a pleasant experience. It was frightening.
Nikki Baxter informed us that the car she purchased from Lee Auto Group was unsafe to drive.
Baxter stated, “They had said that it was in great condition, it is a sound, mechanically sound vehicle, and they want me have a safe and reliable car.” “Well, it’s not.”
Baxter stated that she noticed the car shaking and took it to her trusted mechanic.
He was so confused that I don’t know how you got to the other coast. But he could move this wheel. “I would have died if it had come off.”
Baxter shared with us the parts of her car that had rusted after her mechanic changed them.
Liz Schaffer was the next to appear. WINK News Call for Action reported her story after Lee Auto Group’s financing failed and the dealer refused to refund her $3,500 deposit.
Lindsey Sablan, Central News Call for Action reporter, went to Lee Auto Group to ask the owner Kyle Lee if he had any comments about his cars or business practices. Lee refused to comment on any of the cases that we inquired about.
When asked about his business, he replied “We sell lots of cars and a lot people are happy.” It is sad to hear about the poor ones.
Ray Howard was finally able, after waiting for weeks, to drive off the lot with the exact car he brought in: his car, his money, and some advice for anyone looking for a car.
