History of Levi Ackerman
When Eren awakens from his Titan form and finds himself surrounded by titans, Levi returns from his trip and saves the group. Later, after Eren awakens in a jail, Levi assures him that his superiors will allow him to join the Scouting Legion and that he will keep an eye on Eren.
During the trial, once Eren’s remarks go out of hand, he assaults Eren, much to Mikasa’s chagrin, in order to teach him his place. This was merely a ruse to persuade the public that Levi, not the police, could keep Eren in check while assuring them that the Scouting Legion would take care of him.
