National Puppy Day: Today is, in my opinion, one of the nicest holidays of the year! The 23rd of March is National Puppy Day, a day that not only honours gorgeous puppies but also encourages people to adopt them. According to the National Day Calendar website:

“According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, approximately 3.3 million dogs enter shelters each year. Some of these dogs had litters of puppies with them. Check the shelters first if you’re looking for a puppy to start your furry family. Each of these abandoned and abused animals deserves a forever home when they arrive at a shelter, and their potential is infinite.”

Last week for ‘Furry Friday,’ we had a few of adoptable puppies in the studio! Dogs Forever in Cedar Rapids is now looking for good homes for a few of litters.

Taking your puppy to the dog park, picking up a special gift for them, or taking them for a walk are some of the suggested ways to commemorate National Puppy Day. It should also be emphasised that your dog does not have to be a puppy to celebrate the occasion. At their core, all dogs are pups!

In my house, National Puppy Day is especially significant because it falls only a few days before Tater’s “Gotcha Day.” Tater moved into my residence on March 27th, 2020, and became my permanent roommate/best buddy. It was the very beginning of the pandemic, and I had no idea how fortunate I was to have found him at all. He helped me get through a lot of lonely and uncertain times, and I owe him a huge debt of gratitude! Perhaps this is why he is so spoilt…

I thought I’d post a couple video snippets of Tater in honour of National Puppy Day and his “Gotcha Day.” He is an extremely noisy dog, continuously whining, grumbling, and scream-yawning. It can be annoying at times, such as when I’m trying to work or watch TV, but most of the time it just makes me laugh. Enjoy!

Now, for National Puppy Day, we’d like to see some images of YOUR puppies! Please share them in the comments section!
