Olivia Wilde Early Life
Olivia Wilde is an American actress and director who was born Olivia Jane Cockburn on March 10, 1984.
In addition to appearing in the films Tron: Legacy (2010), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013), and The Lazarus Effect, she played Remy “Thirteen” Hadley on the medical drama television series House (2007–2012).
Wilde made her Broadway debut in 2017, portraying Julia in the play 1984. She earned the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in 2019 for the teen comedy Booksmart, which she directed.
On March 10, 1984, Olivia Jane Cockburn gave birth to Wilde in New York City. She was born and raised in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., and spent her summers at Ardmore in Ireland.
She graduated in 2002 from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where she went to boarding school, and Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. In order to commemorate the writers in her family, many of whom used pen names, Wilde changed her last name while she was still in high school. Her present name, Wilde, was inspired by Irish playwright Oscar Wilde.
She got accepted to Bard College but three times postponed starting because she wanted to pursue acting. Later, she pursued her studies in Dublin’s Gaiety School of Acting.
Leslie Cockburn (née Redlich), a journalist and American producer for 60 Minutes, is Wilde’s mother. Her father, journalist Andrew Cockburn, is a descendant of British author and journalist Claud Cockburn.
He was raised in Ireland after being born in London. Wilde’s family briefly had a home in Guilford, Vermont.
She has a brother who is nine years younger and a sister who is five years older. Her aunt Sarah Caudwell was a writer, and her grandpa Claud Cockburn and his sons Alexander and Patrick were all journalists.
Christopher Hitchens, a writer, looked after Wilde as a child while living as the Cockburn family’s tenant in Washington, D.C.
At the height of the British Empire, upper-class members of Wilde’s Scottish paternal ancestry lived in several places, including Peking (where her paternal grandpa was born), Calcutta, Bombay, Cairo, and Tasmania.
Henry Cockburn, Lord Cockburn, a lawyer, judge, and author, is the ancestor of the Cockburn family. Henry Arthur Blake, one of Wilde’s great-great-grandfathers, served as the governor of Hong Kong.
Wilde is linked to George Cockburn, who set Washington, D.C. on fire during the War of 1812, through her father’s line.
Her great-great-great-great grandfather, Ralph Bernal (1783–1854), a British Whig politician and actor, also gave her 1/64th Sephardic Jewish ancestry. Wilde’s ancestors are English, German, Irish, Manx, and Scottish in addition to the other nationalities mentioned.
Wilde married Tao Ruspoli, an aristocratic member of the Italian film and music industry, on June 7, 2003, when she was just 19 years old.
With just two witnesses, they were married in Washington, Virginia, on a school bus. She later said that the covert marriage took place in an abandoned school bus because it was the only location where they could be totally alone. She and Ruspoli made their separation announcement on February 8, 2011.

When Otis Alexander Sudeikis, now 8 years old, was born on April 20, 2014, his well-known mother tweeted her happiness.
Otis Alexander Sudeikis has LEFT the building, ladies and gentlemen! She tweeted, “(I’m the building),” accompanied with a close-up photo of the actress holding her young kid.
According to rumors, Olivia and Jason’s oldest child is a great musician! In 2016, Olivia remarked to Entertainment Tonight that her young child has a wonderful sense of rhythm.
Since we are all sort of aspiring musicians, it’s as if this child is the manifestation of our own hopes and desires.
He simply has the best beat, she remarked. “I did attend a lot of concerts while I was pregnant. Since he was born, music has been playing nonstop, so I don’t know.
I really believe in reading to children constantly and playing music for them. It aids.
She also made fun of Otis by referring to him as “a little meathead.” He merely desires to watch football. He was incredibly happy for the Chiefs and incredibly disappointed when they lost, she added.
His musical ability appeared to have developed by the time he turned six, and the ex-couple gave him a drum kit in celebration. During a 2020 visit on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jason remarked, “What’s nice is he plays in rhythm one drum at a time.” He’s not quite Dave Grohl yet.
Daisy Josephine Sudeikis, 5, was born October 11, 2016, and her proud mama took to Instagram days later to share a photo and a message to her followers.
“There goes the neighborhood,” the actress wrote. “Daisy Josephine Sudeikis. Born, like a boss, on #internationaldayofthegirl.”
Daisy and her Ted Lasso actor father, Jason, both go by the initials DJS because Daniel is Jason’s given first name. Daisy is apparently the family comic since Olivia previously nicknamed her kid a “hambone,” according to rumours.
She told People in the 2018 interview that “she will do anything for a laugh.” She is completely unafraid, and I find that to be so lovely, says Wilde. They have the best sense of humour. Your closest pals wind up being her kids. I’m not sure whether I knew that, to be honest.
