Ron Desantis was a Navy Seal, but not a member of the elite special forces. The Navy Seals, along with the Marine Corps and the Army Rangers, are the most elite military forces in the world. They have a mission that is unmatched by any other service: to protect the American people and their interests in any location, at any time, and under any circumstances.

That is why it is so important to understand the Navy Seals and what they do.

If you go to the website of Ron DeSantis, you will find that he has made a major part of his campaign based on his military career. Specifically, the site features photos of him in a uniform. And it even mentions his time in Iraq as a Navy SEAL advisor.

DeSantis was a defense attorney, a prosecutor, and a federal prosecutor. In 2007, the year of the “surge” in US troop deployments to Iraq, he was the military lawyer for a Navy SEAL team commander. He was also the military’s judge advocate general (JAG).

As a JAG, DeSantis was responsible for ensuring that US military law was adhered to in the interrogation of captured detainees. This included making sure that the men were treated humanely. The detainees were mostly military-aged males, many of whom had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

During his time as a military prosecutor, he worked hand in hand with a newly established Iraqi judicial system. Sometimes he would hand detainees off to Iraqi authorities for prosecution.

In 2007, the number of civilian deaths in Iraq reached 3,000 per month. A surge of US troops was needed to contain this growing crisis. To do this, 30,000 additional troops were sent to the country.

As a prosecutor

When Ron DeSantis entered the military, he was not a Navy SEAL. He was a Navy Green Beret lawyer, however.

Ron DeSantis graduated from Harvard Law School in 2005. He then served as trial defense counsel in the Naval Region Southeast Legal Service. His work also included prosecuting cases of fraud related to military medals.

In 2010, he earned an honorable discharge from the US Navy. Later, he was a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District of Florida. That position was appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Prior to joining the military, DeSantis attended Yale University. While in law school, he obtained a commission in the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG).

He then served as a Navy lawyer in Iraq in 2003 and 2004. During this time, the US was involved in the war against the insurgency. Sectarian militants were killing 3,000 Iraqis per month, and 30,000 troops were deployed to the country to fight back. Those soldiers were able to round up around 100 insurgents in raids, and hand them over to the Iraqi authorities for prosecution. Some detainees were captured in the raids and were found wearing suicide vests.

Ron DeSantis served in the military for eight years. He joined the Navy in 2004. During his military service, he served as a prosecutor and member of the Judge Advocate General Corps. His service ended in 2010.

After his military service, DeSantis went to law school at Harvard. In 2005, he graduated with honors. That year, he received a commission in the Navy’s JAG Corps.

Shortly after graduating, DeSantis was assigned to work with detainees at the Guantanamo Bay Joint Detention Facility. While he was there, he worked as a human rights lawyer. This position helped him to ensure the treatment of prisoners was legal and fair.

The Guantanamo Bay prison is located in Cuba and is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. government. Human rights groups have been critical of the conditions in the facility. It is believed that some detainees were held without charges, and that others were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

During his service, DeSantis received several awards for his work. One was the Bronze Star Medal. Another was the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

According to his campaign website, DeSantis was also a SEAL team advisor in Fallujah. There were many violent incidents during his time in the area. Besides his SEAL duties, he was responsible for helping to plan raids
