Ryan Keeler, UNLV Football Player, was Dealing with Sickness days Before Death

UNLV footballer Ryan Keeler was battling an illness and was given medications prior to his devastation death last month at the age of 20 as per a report from the police discovered by TMZ.

The former defensive lineman was sick and nauseated “since at least Feb. 13,” according to a relative of the athlete who was interviewed by the authorities.

In the report, Alfred Castillo, who is the director of sports medicine as well as the director of athletic training (football) and police, stated that Keeler was given a prescription for medication on February. 17 according to reports in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, but the medication was not listed in the records.

Keeler was in Castillo on February. 19 but the tragedy struck a few minutes after when UNLV Assistant coach Julio Garcia discovered the athlete unconscious and “cold to the touch” when he conducted a welfare test. He then dialed 911.

Keeler was discovered lying on a bed with her back facing up as per the police report that also mentioned an empty prescription bottle was discovered on the scene.

We’re devastated to have lost a part of our Rebel clan,” the first year UNLV soccer coach Barry Odom said in a statement.

“While we had only the pleasure of getting to know Ryan only for a couple weeks, he had already was recognized by our coaches as a remarkable person as a student, teammate and friend. Our prayers and condolences are with Ryan’s family members as we mourn together with them over this devastating loss.”

Keeler moved out of Rutgers University to UNLV last season.

The player had just completed his freshman redshirt season in which he scored eight tackles in the seven games.
