Here comes the Dell G’s series of laptops that shows a few years ago. First, we have reviews some of the previous generation Dell G’s series laptops. Now we are checks out the all-new Dell G3 15 3500; that is recently launching in India. Here is the full review.
Dell G3’s 15 3500 Design
When one hears the word gaming laptop, he expects it to have bells and whistles like RGB lighting, Flashy Design, and more. Moreover, most of these features are just for cosmetic purposes and do not offer any performance improvement.
Just like its predecessor, the Dell G3’s 13 3500 comes with a Fundamental design. With a blue color, analyze shades all around the laptop.
We recently review the Asus TUF’s A15; it is also an affordable gaming laptop. However, we did not like the build quality of that machine. In comparison, the Dell G3s 15 looks much cleaner and robust even though it is from Plastic.
So, it is a laptop that does not have a gaming aesthetic. Don’t get me wrong, as it has the hardware need to play almost any modern AAA title. Albeit at lower graphics settings for the new AAA’s topics.
Dell G3 15’s 3500 Display
The Dell G3’s 15 3500 has a typical 15.6-inch display with FHD (1920 x 1080p) resolution. It is surrounding by some of the thickest bezels that we saw on a laptop launch in 2020. Moreover, unlike some gaming laptops that we tested recently, the G3 15 has a 720p primary Web camera.
The display will come with a Matte Finish, and it reduces the light flames and reflections. When it comes to color science, it is an 8-bit panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. Nothing special about it compares to laptops like the ROG G14, the G3 15’s display. It is not as vibrant as we need.
I have no issues at the same time to plays games or watching movies on this machine. Moreover, I did feel that the brightness was a bit on the lower side, especially while streaming the content from Prime Video and Netflix.
Note that devices like the Asus TUF’s A15 offer a 144Hz refresh rate and costs the same as the G3 15. So, if one is into competitive gaming like CS: Go. One should choose a laptop with a high rate of refreshment.
Dell G3’s 15 3500 Keyboard And Trackpad
It has a full-size keyboard with a dedicating numerical pad. The keyboard is background lighting with blue light with three brightness levels. Keyboard G3 15 3500 is the same as the G3 15 3590 that we reviewed last year, unlike some of the gaming laptops we were testing over the previous few months.
These keys don’t give a lot of travel. I miss that tangible feedback from legends. At the same time, I am using the laptop for office tasks and gaming. The backlight at the highest brightness is much more for most settings. However, I would have liked to see red or RGB color, and blue is not my awkward situation.
The device is a big trackpad with a blue frame, and I did not notice any issues regarding gestures and tracking. Moreover, one needs a joystick or a mouse to play the games on the machine-like every single gaming laptop.
Dell G3’s 15 3500 Interesting Features
Gaming laptops always pack in tons of features that are usually not found on Regular and Business Laptops. Moreover, the G3 15 is a gaming laptop that will also work well for business tasks, and here is how.
Most of the newly releases laptops that I have tests did not have a full-sized SD card, so I have to Copy Photos and Videos from my camera; I need a third-party adapter to do so. Moreover, the G3 15 3500 has one, and it made my life easier.
Another feature that makes my life easy was the fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor on the G3 will works excellent. Even if the finger is wet, these features will help the user secure the contents on the laptop. I am using the Sensor’s Biometer.
The laptop gives 256GB of SSD and a 1TB HDD even when it comes to the storage solution. Suppose a computer manufacturer cannot provide all-SSD-on storage to cut down the price. The brand should take this approach by giving a Hybrid Storage Solution.
Dell G3’s 15 3500 CPU Performance
Powers by the 10th Gen Intel Core i5 10300H; it is a Quad-core eight-thread CPU with a base clock speed of 2.5GHz. And increase the clock speed to 4.5GHz. Thanks to the higher single-core clock speed. The CPU’s posts of 1122 points on single-core Geekbench 5 performance. The 4206 points on multi-core CPU’s performance.
Same, on Cinebench R20, the processor posts an overall score of 1858. That is significantly less than the Ryzen 7 4800H that powers the equally prices Asus TUF’s A15. Thus, though the single-core performance will ensure a smooth gaming experience, it is best to get a laptop with Ryzen 5 4600H or the Ryzen 7 4800H for the tasks; like video drama and editing.
Dell G3’s 15 3500 GPU Performance
GTA: V is one game that we usually test on every gaming laptop; that we review. Also, I did the same with the Dell G3’s 15 3500 gaming laptops. At the highest graphics settings, the computer gives an average FPS of around 70. So we were sharing a smooth gaming experience.
As the laptop has a 60Hz panel, the gameplay was excellent. Even with the continuous gaming, I did not notice any significant heating issues. Other than the trademark fans to keep the internals cool.
We also ran the above graphics standard at 1080p resolution and medium graphics settings. The laptop scores 6524 points with an average FPS of 48.80. However, it shows that the computer may fail to offer 60fps gameplay on some of the AAA topics on DirectX 12 graphics API.
Dell G3’s 15 3500 3DMark And PCMark Performance
On the 3DMark, the laptop scores 3458 points on the Time Spy module on DirectX 12 with an average FPS of 21.79. Same, on PCMark 10, the device scores 4316 points. These numbers show that the Dell G3 15 3500 is a decent mid-range laptop. It can handle usual common issues without any issue.
Dell G3 15 3500 Judgement: For Casual Gamers Looking at the numbers of various standard tools. It is very proof that the G3 15 3500 is not a high-performance gaming laptop. However, for the asking price, the device does give a good performance, especially for entry-level gamers.
Same, it is also an excellent laptop for everyday usage. As it comes with a high-performance CPU and GPU, there is nothing that the Dell G3 cannot handle. For an asking price of Rs. 73,990, this is one of the good laptops in the market that compete against the Asus TUF A15.
If you are getting into gaming and want a laptop that can also do office tasks and uses for college work, the Dell G3 15 3500 is an excellent choice with very minimal compromises.
