The HP Omen X 2S is a double-screen gaming laptop. The first of its type, according to HP. The Omen X 2S brings thorough new thinking to a form factor already good outside the box.

Thankfully, HP has not just completely exhausted a screen on the system without thinking about it. It includes a variety of dedicated keys to help one utilize the screen to its fullest.

And this gaming laptop is not just on the dual-screen setup and packing a punch across the board. But is it an aspirational or a comfortable kind of purchase? Or is this a feasible option for a hardcore PC gamer? Who wants some portability?

HP Omen X 2S design has near the top of a worse collection.

It is slimmer than many gaming laptops. With some designs, but it remains rather bulky.

It has a plastic feel across more of the body and looks cheap for the amount one is paying. Moreover, the Keyboard, Trackpad, and Mouse Buttons all feel towards the premium end. The use of these devices is enjoyable.

The HP Omen X 2S design looks thoroughly nice, but turn the second screen. It becomes clashing and unsightly to see the space wastes at each side of the display.

Regarding the ports, a laptop has a good selection. There is an HDMI 2.0 port with three USB-A 3.1 ports. A USB-C Thunderbolt’s three ports, an Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. There is not much more else one could wish for on that front.

HP Omen X 2S’s Keyboard and Trackpad – Hits the right notes.

Exceptive owners of the HP Omen X 2S won’t need to worry about keyboard performance. The keys are very clicks, especially for laptops. Without being overly loud and giving a top-class experience across gaming and everyday tasks.

The HP Omen Command Center gives a range of backlighting choices for the keys. You are giving the laptop that flashy look that most gamers passion.

Trackpad and Mouse Keys’ function is decently enough but is position unnaturally, cause an uncomfortable experience. It is acceptable for everyday use. But one will have a much better time with a mouse attached.

HP Omen X 2S display – Gaming High Renown

It sports a 240Hz Full HD display – with a combo that will make many keen interest gamers pricks up their ears.

The display’s brightness tops out at 295 nits – just on average for a laptop. The color temperature does wrong on the blue side. However, the HP Omen X 2S display can produce an extensive range of colors with a 91% sRGB coverage.

It means the video games and digital art should look like the creator planned, with a bit of impression.

Moreover, the 64.0% Adobe RGB and 67.1% DCI P3 scores were unsurprisingly low. They were ruling out the HP Omen X 2S as a suitable device for creative work.

At the same time, the machine’s performance is not enough to make the most 240Hz screen when playing AAA games at Ultra settings. The display gives Buttery-Smooth Gameplay. Usually between the 60fps and 160fps.

HP Omen X 2S’s performance – Pushing the Boundaries.

It gives out some of the best specifications of any gaming laptop we have tests. The review model came with an Intel Core i9-9880H processor of 32GB of RAM, 1TB of SSD storage, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q.

The specifications of the HP Omen X 2S offer excellent 1080p performance. Mainly thanks to the RTX 2080 graphics card. It is one of the most powerful that one can find in a laptop.

It translates to excellent gaming performance, beating out the competitors. Like the Razer Blade 15 and Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX502 for titles. Including Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Dirt Rally.

It offers a performance mode that complexity.

GPU power for even higher frame rates. For the low intensive titles like Dirt Rally. It sees an incredible 48fps increase.

One does have to compromise for this performance increase. Though, as activates, it will see the fans makes a causing irritation loud buzz. The laptop is heating up to uncomfortable temperatures.

It also shows excellent read and writes speeds at 2522.68 MB/s and 2854.87 MB/s, respectively. It is not to be presenting as it makes the laptop take too long to load and save files, which is essential for running video games.

HP Omen X 2S’s Features – A commanding second screen

The HP Omen Command Center gives various ways to use the second screen, from keeping track of thermals and zooming in on aspects of the main display. Like a Mini-Map, Loadout, or Crosshairs, gaming to non-gaming functionality; like Chat Apps and Social Media, feeds.

Second display acting as an External Monitor. So technically, one can drag any window one likes into it. Although its small size makes, sure one probably will not want to use it for Spreadsheet Work.

At the same time, all this functionality sounds handy. It ultimately does not feel helpful when concentrating on a game on the critical display. I rarely look down to see what was happening on the lower show. Found it most useful for Chats and Social kinds of Stuff.

HP Omen X 2S’s Battery – Prefers to be at home system.

One really cannot expect much more battery life when it comes to a high-performance laptop like this. But this does not mean that should not be a consideration.

In our Battery Benchmarking Test Power mark, the HP Omen X 2S is only managing 2hours and 40 minutes. It is slightly higher than the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX502. But it exceeds by over an hour by the Razer Blade 15 device.

Of course, when gaming, one will want this laptop blocked in to get the best performance. So the quality of battery life is only really an issue when using it as a Traditional Laptop for Video Streaming, Web Browsing, and the like.

Should one buy the HP Omen X 2S?

It is a powerful gaming laptop that has few equals when it comes to performance. However, unless one has a burning passion for a mildly helpful second screen, one pays a premium.

As shown clearly in our tests, the Razer Blade 15 with an RTX 2080 Max-Q gives identical internals with the same results. It prices at around £500 less. One can also get a Non-second-screen HP Omen 15 with reasonably similar specifications for almost £800 less since the second screen was not that useful. It is tough to recommend the HP Omen X 2S.

Whether the Nintendo DS-Esque screen appeals to one, I think one would get a lot of joy from using it for the Mini-Map or Sniper Crosshair. Then one will be pleased to have one of the best-performing laptops we have tested yet. That said, the tricky placement of the Trackpad and disappointing battery life remain negatives.

The Decision

It is an exciting Laptop and a beast of a performer. Unfortunately, it does not hold up when places argue with the competitors. Unless one has a burning passion for a second screen, one will find the better value elsewhere.

So, it is essential information on the topic of HP Omen X 2S Core i9 9th Gen 15.6-inch Dual Screen Gaming Laptop (16GB/2TB SSD/Windows.
