A young mother teams up with a strange woman to rescue her kidnapped daughter in the 2022 action criminal thriller Lou. Anna Foerster helmed the film with a script by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley. Co-produced by J.J. Abrams, Jon Cohen, and Hannah Minghella.

The film follows a mother played by Smollett as she attempts to rescue her daughter who’s been kidnapped. While she may not initially like Janney’s character Lou, the mother quickly realizes that she needs her help if she’s going to rescue the child.

Allison Janney plays Lou. Janney had been in TV shows and films before 1999, but The West Wing made her a star. Four Emmys for the part. Janney earned 2 Emmys for MOM, 1 for Masters of Sex, and 1 for I, Tonya.
Jurnee Smollett joins Janney. Since Full House, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, and Eve’s Bayou, Smollett has accomplished much. She’s appeared in Parenthood, True Blood, and Underground, among others. Lovecraft Country earned her an Emmy nod in 2021, and she just acted in Spiderhead on Netflix.
