MSI has been making some excellent PC elements and laptops over the last few years. It is the new kid on the block—supplies by the Ryzen 4000 series. I had the chance to check it out on an excellent month recently as someone who daily drives another Ryzen 4000 gaming notebook. I was not as impresses.

Don’t get me wrong, and the MSI Bravo 15 is enough to be the gaming buddy. It has enough horsepower. The form of factor is the highlight for me. Moreover, a few compromises make it hard to recommends in a market, a category that is full of things with the competition. Let us dives into it.

MSI Bravo 15 2020’s Specifications as Reviews

The MSI Bravo 15 (2020) SKU we reviews was Bravo 15 A4DDR-014IN-BBAR748H16GXXDX10EMH. Our unit had the best quality AMD Ryzen 7 4800H. We pair with an AMD Radeon RX5500M with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM.

The laptop had 8GB DDR4-3200. On the storage side, it was a 512 GB M.2 NVMe SSD. The display was a 15.6″ inches screen running at full HD, 1920 x 1080, and running at 120 Hz—the panel describing as IPS-Level. The unit is running on Windows 10 Home.

MSI Bravo 15 2020’s Build and Feel

To start, the MSI Bravo 15 has an excellent build quality and form factor. I am coming from the ASUS TUF A17. It build like a tank; I did not feel like I was going to distance. The metal handles and finish on the Bravo 15 is excellent. Even though likely to just a ton of streaks.

I enjoy the Thin and Light design, and my TUF A17 is a big boy. So, it felt a noticeable difference using and carrying around the Bravo 15. It is just a comfortable laptop for the amount of power it takes.

The only issue was the more critical and more extensive power brick. 180W power brick is big. But I assume it is a necessary demon. Since the laptop, itself is light enough. I did not quite feel inconveniences by the lift of the power brick.

MSI Bravo 15 2020’s Performance

For this review, I did not put the MSI Bravo 15 through the stages of the regular workload. The reason? Modern-day laptops, especially the Ryzen 4000 machines. These are more than capable of carrying the average workload.

In my case, it was a ton of Writing and Web Surfing. I did not think it was essential to confirm the exact.

However, being a gaming machine. I use the Bravo 15 as my first gaming device. The AMD Radeon RX5500M’s performs better than a 1650 Ti. But does not completely hit 1660 Ti performance levels. I am not sure why MSI decides to go with an all-AMD specification here. Especially since 1660, Ti would have a great offering.

I ran a couple of standards, moreover, to get a feel of the raw performance. The Bravo 15 did not show much-accepted criteria from other similarly priced laptops.

The performance was acceptable and did not leave me wanting more. The GPU choice could have been better.

But the RX5500M is not the worst choice one could go for in the segment.

MSI Bravo 15 2020 — What I Dislikes

At the same time, the performance up to the mark. I had a few issues with the laptop. First of all, it is the keyboard. MSI Bravo 15, 2020 has a one-color LED-lit keyboard, which means one stuck with the red lighting. It is not acceptable. It gives that nearly all the good laptops in this section come with RGB lighting.

That was not my only issue with the keyboard, either. The necessary travel on the MSI Bravo 15 is requiring. It will go with Thin and Light’s factor, but there is no need for a Gaming Laptop.

The low travel will make for an experience of terrible gaming. Since one has very few touches to the advantage, it feels like a Touchpad.

Unfortunately, my gaming complaints did not end there. The temperature levels on the laptop were acceptable on the paper. Take a look at the Temperature graphs above posts.

However, there is one issue, the laptop gets uncomfortably hot in the WASD critical region. Couples with a low-essential trip. It means a very unpleasant experience for the hands.

All these issues seem like such apparent oversights for a gaming machine. MSI makes a machine that was powerful enough for a decent mid-range gaming experience. Still, the lack of evident comfort takes away from that. We were leaving one with a bittersweet after the taste.

MSI Bravo 15 (2020) — The Decision

While the Bravo 15 is an overall decent offering. I would recommend one to skip one. The SKU we review is not available in retail now. But a slightly different SKU with 16 GB RAM and a 144 Hz screen sells for Rs. 89,990.

In the 80 to 90 thousand price bracket, tons of other offerings will give you the same performance. At the same time, it keeps comfort and the RGB.

If one wants a Thin and Light laptop that one can game on. It has no issues with the usefulness problems I mentioned. Then one can consider going for this one.
